BELL 9801 2022, 2023

During the Second World War, 9801 bells disappeared in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. They were taken away and converted into weapons. The intention of the Bell #9801 initiative is to commemorate this cultural loss and to replace the thousands of silenced voices with a new powerful voice. Also thanks to a public collection, a bell with a symbolic weight of 9801 kilograms was cast. It was unveiled exactly eighty years after the requisitioned bells were taken to the imperial war factories by ships from Rohanský Island in Prague. The memorial Bell #9801 should be permanently placed on this spot in the future. The initiative of the same name continues a long-standing collection with the aim of restoring a voice to all lost bells.
