A shop that opened its doors in Prague 7 has no parallel in Europe. The Textile Mountain (“Hora hadrů”) project wants to use and breathe new life into textile and related materials that end up unused in the warehouse or as waste due to overproduction. Lenka Vacková, a designer and a holder of the title Fashion Designer of the Year 2017 at Czech Grand Design Awards, is behind the idea. She was awarded the prize for her recycled collection on which she had cooperated with a textile waste recycling company. She continues with recycling and upcycling process in the Textile Mountain store, which is not “just” a store for sustainable textiles and haberdashery, but it will also serve as a place for clothes repairs, meetings and other activities linked to fashion and lifestyle sustainability.
